We did it again! BFUK Fynbos Gin was awarded Gold at the 2023 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.
The Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards have been running for 28 years. As Africa’s largest wine and spirits competition, Michelangelo remains unique in Africa as all judges are hand-picked wine experts from five different continents. Since the start of the competition in 1997, more than 263 individual judges from 47 countries have served on the panels.
We decided to take a chance and enter BFUK Fynbos. With a double gold in the 2022 Craft Gin Awards, we were keen to see how we would do on a bigger playing field. All entries are judged blind by panels of five judges, who use the 100-point internationally recognised judging system. To achieve gold, you need to be awarded at least 89 points out of a possible 100 or higher. BFUK Fynbos took home gold.
A Michelangelo Award is internationally regarded as a seal of excellence as there are stringent requirements to win any Michelangelo award. This year’s competition saw 633 entries out of 1 555 entries receive Michelangelo Awards.
